Tasting Notes

A new release sourced all from the Royal Slope, the 2012 Syrah offers a deep, saturated purple color as well as a thrilling bouquet of blackberries, blueberries, peppery meats, and game, with a touch of bacon fat emerging with time in the glass. This deep, rich, beautifully concentrated effort has a full-bodied, expansive, sweetly fruited profile, ripe tannin, and a great finish. It's a gorgeous, layered effort.

Food Pairing Recommendations

The 2012 Single Barrel Syrah was crafted exclusively from Stillwater Creek in the Columbia Valley. Farmed using sustainable practices, the vines were limited to one or two clusters per shoot for maximum concentration. They were then hand-harvested over several early mornings in the fall. Upon arriving in the winery, each cluster was hand-sorted, berry-sorted, and then 100% whole cluster fermented exclusively in stainless steel tanks. Using only the free-run wine, it was then moved to custom 500L French oak puncheons for 36 months of cellaring (one puncheon once used and one puncheon twice used). Without racking, the flavors were compressed for an old-world profile. After nearly 50 individual evaluations by our winemaking team, these 2 puncheons were bottled, without fining or filtration, on September 2nd, 2015. These 2 puncheons resulted in only 105 cases.
