Thunderstone Grenache
The 2020 Single Barrel Thunderstone Grenache is deep vermilion in color and expresses fragrance of fresh flowers, pastas, strawberry, and paraffin. The palate is dense and broad yielding to raspberry liqueur, dried herbs, sea spray, and orange rind. The fine acid waves from the back palate to finish with grilled plum, weathered wood, and ripe dark fruits.

Vintage Notes
The 2020 Single Barrel Grenache was crafted from the Thunderstone vineyard within the Royal Slope AVA. The winemaking team worked with vineyard managers to restrict yields, creating small, concentrated berries. Thoughtful canopy management and intensive irrigation strategies were implemented. Cool fall nights preserved a sense of freshness in the wine while continuing flavor development. The fruit was hand-harvested early in the mornings throughout mid-September.
Upon arriving at the winery, the fruit was cluster sorted, de-stemmed and berry sorted before. The wine spent 17+ days in tank for a gentle fermentation and extended maceration before being barreled down into varying formats new 50% new French oak. The wine was cellared for 36 months, with 3 puncheons selected and carefully blended. The wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered to ensure the wine in bottle is as pure and vibrant, producing only 132 cases.
Only one clone was used in the final blend of this wine (Grenache: 3).
